Congratulations on the SWEEP of Millikan today!!! Frosh/Soph cruised, JV had a 3 game thriller and Varsity stayed in the playoff hunt with a three game sweep. Thank you all who came and supported us. Most of all thank you to the lower levels for once again turning that blue gym red!!!

This year I am going to let the lower levels tryout for club volleyball during our season. VARSITY WILL ONCE AGAIN NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT DURING OUR SEASON!!! I will post links to club websites so they can tryout at the best possible team and club. Please make sure to check the links by tomorrow.

Parents and Players please look!!! On tuesday we are traveling to Valencia of Valencia for a non-league game. The bus is going to leave at 12:00 p.m. and we are going to miss 5th period. Tomorrow morning I will hand out pink slips to all of the players to have them signed by their 5th period teacher. Please tell everyone to look for me in the morning to get their slips. Varsity had another great tournament. They went undefeated in pool play not losing a game. They then went to the playoffs and lost in an epic battle against nationally ranked Harvard-Westlake.

Coach Chidester is very pleased with the performance of the Frosh/Soph team at the Cougar Classic at Capistrano Valley. They finished 3rd in a very tough 5 team pool. They also went to the playoffs and had success there too.

This friday night the University of Nevada Las Vegas Runnin' Rebels will visit Long Beach State. Starting at setter for UNLV will be Lakewood Alumni Melody Nua. If you are interested in going I will be able to get tickets to this match for around $2.00. I know I will be there to see my former player......will you?

Frosh/Soph is at Capo Valley this weekend. Expect to be there all day. If you miss the tournament you will not play against Poly on Tuesday.

Varsity is at Marina High School on Friday for the Dave Mohs Classic.

Well we tried our best tonight but our best was not good enough to prevail against Redondo. Our passing let down a bit but we will bounce back and recover against Flintridge Sacred Heart. We will play them on Wednesday at Gahr at 5:30 for third place. Not a bad start to the season when considering that this is the farthest that we have gone in this tournament. Here me now because I am telling all of you WE WILL WIN THIS TOURNAMENT NEXT YEAR. You can quote me on that too!!! I am proud of my girls because we did not give up and won't until the very end. Winners believe in themselves and Champions believe in their team.

Please take time out of your busy day and reflect on those that gave their lives on this day five years ago. Please also take time and think of all of the soldiers overseas who have given their lives to this great country. To me this will never be a holiday but a day of reflection and a sober reminder that we are all humans.

We will play Redondo in the Semi-Finals of the Gahr/Molten Classic on Monday Night at 6:30 at Gahr High School. We could use all of the support of the whole program.

If some of you are wondering why the jersey's are too long here is the reason. The cut of the jersey is what is called an East Coast Cut, because the East Coast tucks their jersey's inside their shorts. Considering that we are on the west coast that is a little different here.

Here is a solution. You can either wear it like it is or Carol Miller, Taylor Miller's mom, will tailor each one with a better fit. Each jersey to tailor will cost $5.00 and her email address is:

The Varsity started off the season with a victory Friday night against Cerritos winning 25-10,25-7,25-18. Saturday morning they played South Torrance to another 25-16,25-12,25-20 victory. Later that afternoon they played Marlborough to a 25-10,25-17,25-22 victory to send their overall record to 3-0.

Next up is the Semi-Final match on Monday night at either 4:00 or 6:30 at Gahr High School. We don't know our opponent yet but it will be either Los Alamitos, Redondo or Flintridge Sacred Heart. I will post more information as it comes in tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

What a great way to start the season!!!

The JV team traveled down to Capistrano Valley High School for their tournament. They were able to stay in the Gold Division during the pool play and were matched up with Marymount in the playoffs. Coach Maosi was very proud of the effort that these awesome player turned out.

I will officially no longer take orders for the Adopt A Lancer t-shirts. Thank you for your tremendous support.

Frosh/Soph is in BIG trouble for not helping break down the small gym after their scrimmage. Coach Chidester said that most of the team left and did NOT pick up trash and take down the nets. For those actions Coach Wadley will have a meeting with that team and a training session to be conducted at 12:45 tomorrow in the main gym. DO NOT BE LATE OR THERE WILL BE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES.

The Varsity will travel to Cerritos to play Cerritos on Friday at 4:00 in the Gahr tournament. We need parent volunteers to drive to Cerritos. We plan on leaving at 3:00 but we will pass and serve before we leave at school.

Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity to make a little money from the snack bar. We need donations to start up the food so if you can please donate the following that would be much appreciated:

Hot Dogs and Hot dog buns
All soda's in a 12 pack
Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper
All flavors of GATORADE
Licorice
Chocolate Candy in boxes - Snickers, M&M's etc.
Hard Candy - Skittles etc.

I HAVE EXTENDED THE ADOPT A LANCER DEADLINE UNTIL MONDAY. IF YOU HAVE MONEY ETC. PLEASE TURN IT IN THEN. I WILL BE AT SCHOOL FROM 8-10 IN THE MAIN GYM. REGARDLESS OF WHAT TEAM YOU ARE ON YOU MUST TURN THAT MONEY IN BY THEN. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY LATE MONEY.

My school email address is down right now. So if you have to get into contact with me put it on the guestbook and I will email you right back. I just can't open the email from the school website.

We desperately need donations for the scrimmage. We can take donations on Monday or Tuesday of next week. This is a great way to start our fundraising for the banquet etc. I will post the flyer for the donations by Sunday.

Reminder that there is the scrimmage on Tuesday September 5th. The Varsity will travel to Mater Dei. The JV and FS will stay at home with the JV in the Main Gym and the FS in the Small Gym. All scrimmages start around 3:30 - 4:00.

The Varsity bus leaves at 2:00 on the dot. They have to be at school by 1:30. JV and FS have to be at the gym no later than 3:00 or earlier (if their coach asks them to be.

Yes......I know, I know......there is practice on Labor Day. Remember that eventhough it is a holiday it is the coaches holiday too! Practice times are listed:

Varsity - 8-10
Junior Varsity - 10-12
Frosh/Soph - 8-10

If you do not show up to practice you will be ineligible for the scrimmage the next day and the first 2 games.

Uniform money is due on Wednesday the first day of school. Go to the Uniform Due page and check out how much you owe. The Adopt-A-Lancer is not included on the due list yet! So don't worry but I will try and add that by Sunday at the latest.

Today is the due date for the Adopt-A-Lancer tshirts. I don't have the JV teams stuff so if there are any of them that are interested email me IMMEDIATELY!!!!
