Look at the map page for the directions to Harvard-Westlake. There might be a conflict with the Frosh/Soph White team because of their SAT testing at Harvard-Westlake. I will know today if there is going to be a match and if not they are not required to attend Saturday.

Schedule Correction

The match tomorrow is AT Compton and not at Lakewood. The bus will leave at 12:30 due to the minimum day for Back to School Night.  Junior Varsity and Varsity only will be attending. The FS teams will be practicing and their coaches will notify when they are practicing. 

Harvard-Westlake Departure Time

The bus will leave on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Please make sure all players are at school by 12:50 at the sports gate.  

What a great week for "The Wood". All 4 teams played well with their respective games and the tournaments that have come through the last seven days. 

Uniform Account Bill 

The uniform bill is due to be paid on October 7th. I have already talked to some teams about what is due from each player. This week I will approach each player and let them know what their account balance is. If you would like it sooner please email Coach Wadley at mwadley@lbschools.net and I can get you an accurate account. Please make checks out to Lakewood Volleyball Booster Club or cash (receipts will be given) and even Money Orders. Please remember to have your account balance brought to a zero so we can be in good standing with our uniform vendor. 

Pancake Breakfast Tickets 

Each player is responsible to sell all of their tickets so we can now work on our banquet and other vital things to make our season a success. Each ticket is $5 bringing a total of $15 from each player. This is also a fundraiser for the school athletics program that will benefit everyone involved so please make sure each player sells each ticket and bring in the money in an envelope with their name on it. We are going to need 5 players to work the pancake breakfast on October 8th.  

Cooks Night Out

This is again an easy way for us to make money for the program. This time around it is back at Fuddrucker's on Wednesday September 28th. Check out the page to the right and download the coupon.

This Week's Matches

This week's matches has Compton coming to town on Tuesday at 1:30 for JV and 3:00 for Varsity. Compton does not have a FS team so there will be practice that day in the small gym. Early day on Tuesday due to Back to School night at the middle schools. On Thursday all of the teams will travel to Cabrillo and take on the Jaguars. The matches will start at the regular times of 3:00 and 4:00. Saturday all of the teams will travel to Harvard-Westlake in Studio City for a 3:00 match for their homecoming. The bus will leave around 1:00 but the time will be confirmed tomorrow and the bus is a 2-way bus.

 

The tournament has been changed back to what was originally posted. This is the very reason why I do not post pools and other items until before the tournament begins. Tournaments get moved around all the time and it saves the confusion for the coaches and players.

Thank you to all the players who participated in helping us run a smooth Gahr Tournament. Each person involved was instrumental for the tournament to be run the best. Also, congratulations to both Frosh/Soph teams for the awesome tournament at Tesoro High School. They did an outstanding job representing "The Wood". 

Varsity paperwork for the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada will be distributed on Monday September 12th. Please make sure all paperwork is in before we leave on Thursday.

All  teams to Valencia High School in Valencia near Magic Mountain. This is a 2-Way bus so every player will have a ride back to school. The bus will leave no later than 2:00 p.m. Please make sure to pick up players from school on time when they call from the bus ride back. If not their coach has to wait with them until they are all gone.

Molten/Gahr Invitational 

I understand this is the first week of school so it is important that each player does their part so they don't have to make up for others. This is an important tournament for the program because of the money we can make in the snack bar etc. Please read the schedule and make sure each player is there when they are assigned.

Those that need to bring in their snack bar donations may do so tomorrow morning.

Uniform Balance Deadline

Each player will be given a balance for their remaining uniform account. Our bill is due by the beginning of October so all of the payments must be in by September 23rd. If you would like to bring your account to zero you may pay earlier as well.
