Mike Wadley
- Varsity Head Coach (8th Year) 16th Overall
Coach Wadley enters his fifteenth year at Lakewood High School. Over
the last seven years he has had 15 All-CIF, 11 All-Americans and 5 Fab-Fifty players suite up in a Lancer uniform. There have
been 13 student/athletes signing at: Long Beach State (5), Pepperdine, UNLV, University of Miami, University of Illinois,
University of Great Falls, Wyoming, Utah, Missouri State, CSUF and CSUDH respectively. Last season Coach Wadley added 3 more
seniors who will continue their volleyball careers into the college ranks with Megan Moenoa (UCLA), Tyler Jackson (Long Beach
State) and Jordyn Hecker (Fullerton College).
His girl’s teams have enjoyed the most recent success with the last
seven varsity teams advancing to the CIF SS-IAA Quarter-Finals with four of those teams advancing to the Semi-Finals. Those
teams have an overall record of 180 wins with 61 losses. The 2007 team finished with a ranking of #21 out of roughly 5,000
from Prep Volleyball and a #9 National Ranking from Max Preps. The 2008 team started off the year being ranked as the #1 team
in the nation by ESPN Rise magazine and did not disappoint. Each of the last seven years Coach Wadley’s Lancers have
ranked in the top 100 in the country.
Coach Wadley has been married for 16 years to his lovely wife Jessica and
has two sons Adam and Jared. In his spare time he enjoys golf, cooking and playing with his children. Adam
is a junior Libero at Wilson High School and Jared is a 3rd grader at Gant Elementary. He is a Long Beach native attending Wilson High School graduating in 1989 where
he ran Track, Cross Country and played Volleyball. Coach Wadley has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from National University
and in 2011 will have a Master’s of Arts in Coaching and Athletics Administration.
